The fourth richest Filipino, tycoon Lucio Tan affirmed support Thursday, for the current administration and denied posing threats to destabilize government officials as hinted by President Rodrigo Duterte early this week.

“I have not and will never support any attempt to undermine duly-constituted authority. That’s the plain and simple truth,” said a statement released by Tan representing him and his group of companies as quoted by Rappler, a Philippine-based online news portal.

Tan said Duterte’s insinuations were false and without basis.

“I will not sacrifice everything I worked for, including my family’s honor, by supporting any attempt to undermine those in power,” he said.

Tan, 83 years old, noted that at this point in his life, all he wants is an “easier” life.

Duterte on Tuesday dared Tan to fund destabilization against him like he used to do against government officials in the past.

"Lucio Tan… P6 billion, for so long. No collection, no payment. Mayor would be afraid to enforce the law with him (his companies), afraid that he will fund destabilization," said the President.

“It would be better if he contributes there,” Duterte said referring to plots to oust him. “If the military will still side with me, I will target him first," he added.

Tan’s company, flag carrier Philippine Airlines early this month has agreed to settle its obligations with the Philippine government in the amount of PHP6 billion ($116 million) representing navigational fees and other charges for the use of the airport building and facilities since the date it was acquired by Tan from the government.

The settlement was reached following Duterte’s threat to close the airport down.
