ISTANBUL

The 2nd Turkey-China Forum will be held on May 22 in Istanbul to discuss wide range of subjects.

The Istanbul-based think tank, Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM), announced on Tuesday that the forum's main theme will be Turkey-China Relations in the new era.

The three-day forum will be held by TASAM and China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), which is affiliated to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

It said the forum's sub-themes will be sectoral and financial deepening, security and defense industry, investment, trade, infrastructure and construction business, public diplomacy, local authorities, civil society, think tanks and media, ASEAN Zone, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, integration in Asia, energy, water and food security, science and technology, academy and culture and Middle East-Africa, South and Central Asia.

TASAM head Suleyman Sensoy said that for China, Turkey is a departure gate to the Balkans and Europe in the new term and a good economic partner in the Middle East and Central Asia.

He stressed upon the need of strengthening the mutual relations in political, economic and security fields.

Sensoy added that both Turkey and China are developing an efficient strategic cooperation in terms of sustainability of long-term interests.
