KABUL, Afghanistan

A senior Al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan has been killed, country's intelligence agency said Tuesday.

Omar bin Khetab, also known as Omar Mansour, was killed along with 80 other militants in joint operations carried out by the Afghan and the U.S. forces in Ghazni, Paktia and Zabul provinces.

Khetab was the most high-profile leader of the network so far killed in Afghanistan, the Afghan National Directorate of Security added.

It said 27 members of the group have also been arrested as part of the operations.
