US stock market opens higher
Retail companies' shares rise

NEW YORK
The stock market opened higher Wednesday with gains in retail firms' stocks.
The Dow added 119 points to begin trading at 21,429 points, and the S&P 500 rose 12 points to 2,432 points.
The Nasdaq increased 23 points to start the day at 6,170 points.
At the first bell, retail giants Macy's and Target saw their shares gain 1.8 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.
