Wall Street closes mixed with oil decline, tech gains

NEW YORK 

Wall Street closed mixed Wednesday as oil prices continued to tumble but tech stocks rallied.

The Dow fell 57 points to end the day at 21,410 and the S&P lost one point to 2,435.

The Nasdaq rose 45 points to finish at 6,233.

Shares of Twitter jumped more than 5 percent, while Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba gained nearly 4 percent.

Crude prices continued to plummet Wednesday after reaching their lowest level in seven months the previous day.

At the final bell, international benchmark Brent crude was down just shy of 3 percent to $44.69. The American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was off more than 2 percent, trading at $42.41.
