Turkey's electricity consumption grew by 5.19 percent in November compared to the same month last year, according to Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on Sunday.
The country's power consumption increased to 23.86 billion kilowatt-hours in November compared to the same month of 2016.
Turkey produced 24.2 gigawatt-hours of electricity in November 2017 - a production increase of 7.28 percent compared to the same month of 2016.
Turkey produced 46.4 percent of November's electricity from natural gas power plants while 9.21 percent came from hydro plants and 20.26 percent from imported coal.
Local coal plants contributed 15.9 percent to electricity generation, wind plants constituted 4.63 percent and the remaining 3.6 percent of electricity production was generated from geothermal, fuel oil and biogas plants.
- Electricity imports decrease by 59 percent
Turkey's electricity imports from neighboring countries decreased by 58 percent reaching 172.56 million kilowatt-hours as opposed to 422.54 million kilowatt-hours in November last year.
Furthermore, Turkey's electricity exports to neighboring countries increased by 154 percent with 336.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. Electricity exports in November last year amounted to 132.48 million kilowatt-hours.
