The Albanian authorities confirmed on Tuesday they would launch an investigation against those hiding in Albania suspected of involvement in Turkey’s 2016 military coup attempt.

Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla issued a statement claiming some of the names linked to the July 15 coup plot were suspected of being concealed in Albania.

"In this regard, the Albanian authorities will launch an investigation," Llalla said.

The Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gulen, is accused of orchestrating the deadly coup attempt in Turkey last year.

The failed putsch martyred 250 people and left more than 2,200 others injured.

Llalla said they were investigating based on information supplied by Turkey and said all probes would be conducted in accordance with Albanian law.
