LA VALLETTA, Malta

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim arrived here Friday in the Maltese capital to kick off a visit in which Turkey-EU relations are expected to be high on the agenda.

Yildirim was officially invited by Prime Minister Joseph Musca and is expected to meet his counterpart and President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

Along with Turkey-EU relations, other regional and international issues are expected to be discussed during the one-day visit. Malta is currently the term chairman of the EU.

A forum that will see the participation of business leaders from both countries is also scheduled to take place.

Yildirm’s wife is accompanying the Turkish minister on the trip, along with a number officials, including Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya, EU Minister Omer Celik, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, Youth and Sports Minister Akif Cagatay Kilic, Education Minister Ismet Yilmaz, Health Minister Recep Akdag.

The Turkish delegation will leave Malta for a two-day Germany visit.
