The interior minister of Bahrain on Saturday said the recent oil pipeline fire was “a terrorist act”, according to a statement issued by the country’s Interior Ministry.

The statement came a day after an oil pipeline near the Buri village in central Bahrain caught fire. No casualties were reported.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Bin Abdullah al-Khalifa described the incident as “an act of sabotage and a dangerous act of terrorism aimed at harming supreme interests of the homeland and safety of the people”.

“The terrorist acts that Bahrain has witnessed recently are conducted through communications and direct instructions from Iran,” he claimed.

Iranian authorities have not yet responded to the comments of the Bahraini interior minister.

Bahraini authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
