The Omani authorities have ordered the deportation of 63 illegal migrants, according to the official Omani News Agency (ONA).

"Over the past two days, police have deported 63 infiltrators from Muscat International Airport after they had entered the country illegally," ONA reported late Wednesday.

The news agency went on to quote an unnamed Omani police source as saying that the “infiltrators” had been deported “in accordance with due legal process and international conventions."

ONA did not provide the nationalities of the deportees.

In 2017, the total population of the small Gulf sultanate stood at some 4.6 million.
