Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr arrived in the coastal city of Aden on Friday -- along with with several government ministers and Aden Governor Abdulaziz al-Muflehi -- following a brief visit to Saudi Arabia.

"Seventeen members of the government returned to Aden from Riyadh along with bin Daghr and al-Muflehi,” a government source told Andolu Agency, speaking anonymously due to restrictions on talking to media.

Upon their arrival in Yemen, bin Daghr and members of his delegation headed immediately to the nearby Al-Haswa hydroelectric station for the inauguration of the Qatar-funded project.

Security forces were deployed in force along the road linking Aden’s international airport and the power station, located in Aden’s western Al-Buraiqeh district.

The Shia Houthi militia and allied forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh overran capital Sanaa and other parts of the country in 2014, forcing Yemen’s Saudi-backed government to take up temporary residence in Aden.

One month ago, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi dismissed Aden Governor Aidaroos al-Zubaidi, replacing him with al-Muflehi.

Immediately after his appointment, al-Muflehi set out for Saudi Arabia, returning on Friday along with the government delegation.
