People read the news through the writing of the reporters and see the news through the eyes of the photo journalist and cameramen. With war, natural disasters and the other social events taking places, reporters have to prepare the news and images due to the harsh conditions and at the cost of their life. So far, many journalists around the world were taken hostage or died or injured during their duties.
Therefore, journalists should know how to survive under these harsh conditions. Unfortunately, journalists around the world do not know how to surviveor behave in war conditions.
None of the media institutions should send the journalists, who have not received special training for war or natural disasters, to the scene. Anadolu Agency is among the leading news agencies which does not send the correspondents who do not receive war training to these areas.
The "War Journalism Certificate Program" co-organized by Anadolu Agency and the Turkish Police Academy aims at training correspondents to be ready to face dangers in extraordinary situations since 2012. The Security General Directorate, the Turkish Armed Forces, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency and the Undersecretariat of Public Security also make contributions to this program. The lectures are given by academic, professional security forces and experienced journalist, all expert in their fields. During the courses, real ammunitions were used to allow to the participants to experience the all actual situations.
The agency offers 26-courses included from journalism to personal safety, from the law of war to first-aid, from the advanced driving techniques to survive in water and chemical and biological attacks to disaster management in the media. During the 12 days program participants will complete 108 hours of study, out of which 62 hours would be on the field course work.
Successful participants will be awarded internationally-recognized certificates and the program opens its doors to all participants from the world, not just from Turkey.
