DUSHANBE, Tajikistan
Turkey and Tajikistan have signed a three-year cooperation plan to promote the political and cultural relations between the two countries, according to a Turkish diplomatic source Friday.
The 2017-2020 plan was signed Friday following a meeting between the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Tajik counterpart, Sirojiddin Aslov in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Friday's meeting was the first meeting between the two ministries since 2008, the source said, adding Cavusoglu was also received by the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the two discussed the cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
Cavusoglu and Rahmon agreed to hold the next Cooperation Council meeting between the two countries in 2017, marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
The presidential-level meeting will be held in Turkey.
