Turkish science min. calls on expat scientists to keep ties with homeland

BERLIN

Turkish expat scientists in Germany should collaborate with scientists in their homeland, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Isik said on Wednesday.

At a meeting in Berlin, Isik called on Turkish scientists in German academies to work closely with their peers in Turkey.

"Turkey is proud of the Turkish community in Germany," Isik said while hailing them as a factor in Turkey's development.

Isik also touched on the soft power generated by science and business and said Turks in the country need to assume more responsibility in helping to establish better relations with Germany.

More than four million people of Turkish descent live in Germany.
