Copa America: Argentina, Chile face off in finals rematch

NEW YORK

Argentina will look for revenge when it goes against reigning champions Chile in the Copa America Centenario final Sunday in a rematch for the title.

The two teams faced each other in last year's Copa, with Chile winning the trophy after a 4-1 penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regular time.

The match is too close to call, pitting the two-time world champion and FIFA World No. 1 against the title-holders.

On the way to the final, the Lionel Messi-led La Albiceleste beat Venezuela 4-1 in the quarterfinals before decimating the U.S. hosts 4-0 in the semifinals in a dominating fashion.

For its part, Chile destroyed Mexico 7-0 in the quarterfinals stage and beat Colombia 2-0 in a match that was interrupted by a two-hour rain delay.

Only two matches are left in this special edition of Copa America organized to celebrate the tournament's 100th anniversary, hence the name Centenario.

It is a diversion from the usual four-year cycle, with the most recent iteration held just last year.

The U.S. will play Colombia on Saturday for the third-place prize -- a fair consolation for the hosts that exited the tournament against a clearly superior opponent.
