Turkey: Two kids wounded in PKK attack

Van

VAN, Turkey

Two children were wounded in a PKK terror attack in eastern Turkey late Monday.

PKK terrorists attacked a police building in the Ipekyolu district of Van province with rockets and gunfire, according to security sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The windows of a nearby house were shattered in the attack and two children inside the dwelling -- aged four and two -- were injured. Both were hospitalized.

Van has been the scene of recent anti-terror operations against the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- which resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July last year.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
