ANKARA

Turkish Airlines has increased its total number of passengers by 3 percent in the January-November 2016 period compared to the same period last year, the country’s national flag carrier announced Thursday.

The total number of passengers between January and November reached 58.3 million compared to 56.6 million in the same period in 2015, the airline said in a statement.

Turkish Airlines said the number of customers rose by 4.3 percent on its domestic flights and 2.1 percent on its international flights.

Seat occupancy declined by 3.6 points to 74.5 percent compared to the January-November 2015 period.

Turkish Airlines also said the company had a total of 292 destinations worldwide – 49 domestic and 243 international as of November.

The number of aircraft operated by the airline increased by 36 to 335, including 13 cargo planes, from 299 in November 2015.

Turkish Airline's shares in Borsa Istanbul were the second most-traded stocks and were valued at 4.87 Turkish liras (approximately $1.44) towards the closing session on Wednesday.
