Turkey’s armed forces said on Wednesday they shelled 25 terrorist targets in northern Syria as part of Operation Euphrates Shield.

In a statement, the military said Turkish artillery had hit positions in the Zavgar and Kulliyah regions from 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) on Tuesday.

Turkish fighter jets also conducted an air raid in the same regions at around 6.50 p.m. (1550GMT) destroying four shelters and killing an unspecified number of terrorists inside, the statement added.

Meanwhile, coalition warplanes conducted an air raid in Guzelmezra region and destroyed a vehicle belonging to Daesh, it added.

The statement further said that Free Syrian Army forces had, since the onset of the operation, cleared 32 villages and residential areas of terrorists, allowing displaced residents to return to their homes.

Operation Euphrates Shield, which was launched Aug. 24, aims at improving security, supporting coalition forces and eliminating the terror threat along Turkey’s border through Free Syrian Army fighters backed by Turkish armor, artillery and jets.
