Eleven PKK terrorists have been killed in counter-terrorism operations in southeastern Turkey, said military sources Monday.

Four of them were killed in Mardin’s Nusaybin district and seven others in the province of Sirnak, added Turkish military sources.

The number of terrorists neutralized in recent operations in Nusaybin thus rose to 318, and 288 in Sirnak.

Moreover, the number of destroyed improvised explosive devices in Nusaybin rose to 738 and 843 in Sirnak.

The Turkish General Staff said in a statement two terrorists were arrested in separate operations in the Yuksekova district of the southeastern province of Hakkari and in the Inegol district of the Bursa province Monday.

Meanwhile, a father and mother, who were trying to enter the Oguzeli district of the province of Gaziantep from Syria with four children, were arrested on suspicion of being members of Daesh, read the statement.

The Mardin Governorate also issued a statement Monday, regarding the ongoing counter-terrorism operations, that said: "54 security members were martyred and 227 barricades removed since the operations began on March 14 this year."

Turkey’s southeast has been the scene of significant military operations since late 2015, as the police and army seek to clear PKK terrorists from urban areas.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July. Since then more than 400 members of the security forces have been martyred and more than 3,700 PKK terrorists killed.
