Four Daesh terrorists were killed in northern Syria on Monday in airstrikes carried out by U.S.-led coalition forces in northern Syria, the Turkish military source said.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restriction on speaking to media, said four Daesh terrorists were killed in three airstrikes and 18 Daesh targets in the town of al-Amiriyah had been hit 27 times with howitzers.

The clashes between the terrorist group and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) continued heavily in northern Syria, the source added.

Monday marked the 34th day of Operation Euphrates Shield, which began last month and saw the Free Syrian Army, backed by Turkish military, take control of the city of Jarabulus from Daesh.

Turkey has said Operation Euphrates Shield was aimed at bolstering border security, supporting coalition forces, and eliminating the threat posed by terror organizations, especially Daesh.

The operation is in line with the country’s right to self-defense borne out of international treaties and a mandate given to Turkey’s armed forces by its parliament in 2014, which was extended for another year in September 2015.
