The death toll following the capsizing of a coastal boat in the Bosphorus off Istanbul's Fatih district on Thursday rose to four on Friday, a hospital source said.

Specialist Sergeant Bulent Demirkaya succumbed to his injuries at Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet State Hospital, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions over speaking to the media.

Three injured are currently undergoing treatment, the sources added.

Earlier Thursday, Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin told reporters that the boat, belonging to the regional coast guard command, crashed into a cargo carrier off Sarayburnu’s shores.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the deadly collision, which claimed the lives of four soldiers.
