A senior PKK terrorist sought by Turkey with the offer of a 1 million Turkish lira ($258,000) reward was killed in a counter-terrorism operation in eastern Turkey, the local governorship said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Tunceli Governorship said that Murat Dag, codenamed “Ferhat Yilmaz,” was among eight terrorists killed during an operation conducted by Turkish gendarmerie and coordinated with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) in the Pulumur district.

Dag was said to be in the middle (green) category of the Turkish Interior Ministry’s list of wanted terrorists, the statement said.

The wanted list is divided into five color-coded categories, with red as the most wanted, followed by blue, green, orange and grey.

Numerous weapons and documents of the terrorist group were seized during the operations, the statement added.

PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU.
