A clash between security forces and PKK terrorists left a soldier martyred and another wounded in eastern Bingol province Tuesday, according to a military source.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said the clash took place in the Yeniyazi neighborhood of Bingol's Genc district.

Operations in the district are currently underway to nab the assailants, the sources added.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 700 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed in military operations.
