One soldier was wounded in a PKK terror attack Friday in Turkey’s southeastern province of Adiyaman, according to security sources.

The sources, speaking to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said PKK terrorists opened fire in the Komur district of Adiyaman at a Turkish Army vehicle injuring the soldier driving.

The injured soldier Mucahit Simsek was transferred to Adiyaman Training and Research Hospital. He is in stable condition, according to medical sources.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 7,700 PKK terrorists neutralized in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
