ANKARA
Turkish Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yildirim on Monday said that they would issue a tender notice for the third airport in Istanbul in September.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Binali Yildirim stressed that the third airport in Istanbul would be constructed under the "build-operate-transfer" model.
"We plan to complete the tender process for the third airport within December," Yildirim noted.
"To date, the private sector made investments in airports in Turkey worth two billion USD under the 'build-operate-transfer' model. Thanks to this model, the Turkish government did not need to spend any money on new airports," Yildirim also said.
