Turkish police Tuesday arrested 25 Daesh suspects, including three top ranking members and 22 foreign nationals, as part of the country's ongoing nationwide counter-terrorism operations.

The Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Unit teams began operations to capture the three top ranking members of Daesh responsible for planning and directing attacks, a police official, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, told Anadolu Agency.

A number of documents and digital material linked with Daesh terrorist group have also been seized during the raids in two different districts of Istanbul.

Police have launched an investigation.

Turkey has long suffered Daesh’s deadly terror attacks, which includes the October 2015 Ankara train station bombing that killed more than 100 people.

According to a statement recently released by Turkish Ministry of Interior, security forces have carried out 1,285 counter-terrorism operations on Sept. 4-10.

It said there were 601 arrests, including 117 suspects for aiding and abetting the PKK terrorists, 27 linked to Daesh, 451 linked to FETO, and six linked to leftist terrorist groups.
