Turkey condemns remarks by Iran's top soldier

ANKARA  

Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned remarks by Iran's chief of general staff over Turkey's policy regarding the Syrian crisis. 

Issuing a statement, the Turkish MFA strongly rejected remarks by Hasan Firuzabadi and several other Iranian officials as "baseless accusations and inappropriate threats."

"Turkey's foreign policy acts in the guidance of its own goals and principles and it has a big state tradition," the ministry said, adding that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was set to convey to his Iranian counterpart later on Tuesday to Turkey's unease over the Iranian officials' remarks.  
"We call on Iranian officials to stop making baseless statements on our country and act in line with the spirit of good neighborhood relations," the ministry said.
