Turkey to build 10 temp 'schools' for Syrians

Ankara

HATAY, Turkey

A total of 10 temporary training centers will be set up for Syrian refugees in the town of Reyhanli near the Turkey’s southern border, the local mayor said on Tuesday.

The centers will be established with the cooperation of the Ministry of National Education, Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management, AFAD and the Reyhanli municipality, Huseyin Sanriverdi said.

"There are currently 108,000 Syrians living in Reyhanli, and these centers will enable the school-age children to continue their education," Sanriverdi said, adding that work was already underway to build the first of the prefab schools.

Turkey has adopted an open-door policy for civilians fleeing conflict in Syria and Iraq, with around 2.5 million Syrian refugees currently being hosted in the country.
