Turkey vows tit-for-tat moves against Daesh

ANKARA

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday vowed tit-for-tat retaliation in response to rocket attacks carried out by Daesh in southern Turkey.

Speaking at an address to mukhtars, village headmen, at the presidential complex in Ankara, Erdogan said the attacks carried out on southern Kilis province had been met and would continue to be met.

"We are going through a struggle. The trouble is no doubt huge. [...] Know it well that we have not left any attacks on Turkey's soil and citizens unanswered and will not leave them unanswered," Erdogan said.

Kilis lies six kilometers (four miles) from the Syrian border and has been repeatedly struck by fire from across the frontier since mid-January.

In Kilis province alone, the local governor has confirmed that a total of 20 people have been killed and almost 70 others wounded by rockets which have fallen inside Turkish territory.

Erdogan continued to say that the terrorist Daesh group paid the price with losses after attacking Kilis province and warned: "If they [Daesh] continue to do so, they will receive further losses."

In his remarks, Erdogan said that Turkey was "aware of intentions behind the harassment fire by the terrorist organizations".

"Turkey has the power and resolution both to fight all terror organizations and implement its own policies," the president added.
