ANKARA

Turkish archer Yesim Bostan has won the silver medal in the women's compound bow outdoor event of the 2017 World Archery Championships in Mexico City.

In a written message on Sunday, Turkish Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak celebrated Bostan for her success.

“I believe our national sportswoman will represent our country in the best way in the coming events as well,” he said.

Yesim Bostan, 22, was beaten by 21-year-old South Korean archer Song Yun-soo 145-143 in the final on Saturday.

She had defeated 29-year-old German archer Kristina Heigenhauser 145-141 in the semi-final. 

Bostan made her international debut in 2014, winning the bronze medal with the compound junior team at the World Archery Indoor Championships in Nimes, France.

The 2017 Hyundai World Archery Championships started on Oct. 15, in Mexico City, Mexico and ended on Sunday.
