The Turkish forces killed three PKK terrorists during a counter-terror operation in southeastern Hakkari province early Tuesday morning, the local governor’s office said.

According to a statement by the Hakkari Governor’s Office, the PKK on Monday night attacked a military vehicle passing trough the Cukurca-Van highway in the central district of the province.

The Turkish military in a drone attack killed 3 PKK terrorists, and seized two rocket-propelled grenades and three Kalashnikov rifles.

Also on Tuesday, the Turkish Air Force conducted a counter-terror operation in Zap and Avasin-Basyan areas of northern Iraq.

Weapon pits, shelters and depots used by PKK terrorists were destroyed in the airstrikes, the Turkish General Staff said.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
