Six targets belonging to the terrorist PKK organization have been destroyed by Turkish fighter jets in the Sinat-Haftanin and Metina areas of northern Iraq, the military said on Sunday.

According to a Turkish General Staff statement, Turkish jets launched an air operation on Saturday on the Sinat-Haftanin area and destroyed two PKK targets, including weapon emplacements and shelters.

Four PKK bases were destroyed in the Metina region on Sunday by Turkish jets.

Later on Sunday, the Turkish General Staff also said the security forces killed eight PKK terrorists in separate operations in southeastern Turkey.

One was killed in an operation in Mardin province’s Nusaybin district on Saturday. Security forces seized one Kalashnikov rifle; seven improvised explosives were destroyed.

In Sirnak province, five PKK terrorists were killed and one more surrendered to Turkish security forces on Saturday. Turkish forces also seized one rocket launcher, a sniper’s rifle, 12 Kalashnikovs and three hand grenades. Thirteen improvised explosives were destroyed in the operation.

In Sirnak's Uludere district, two terrorists were also killed on Saturday.

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 480 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guards, have been martyred and over 4,900 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
