Turkish police arrest 14 in anti-narcotics operations

ANTALYA, Turkey

A total of 14 suspects have been arrested in anti-narcotics operations conducted across Turkey, police sources said Tuesday.

In a statement, Antalya Governorship said that six of the suspects were arrested in the Mediterranean city.

One of the suspects was carrying around half kilograms of methamphetamine, the statement read.

In another operation in Turkey’s eastern province of Mus, three suspects were arrested during an anti-narcotics operation, the Mus Governorship said in a statement.

Two cars were stopped by Turkish police and more than 31 kilograms (68 pounds) marijuana were seized during the operation, the statement added.

In Kutahya, in Turkey’s Aegean province, another suspect was caught red-handed while trying to sell synthetic drugs, a source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.

In Turkey’s eastern province of Van, more than 51 kilograms (112 pounds) heroin was found during a car search, police said. Driver M.K. was arrested.

In Gaziantep, south-central Turkey, two suspects were arrested during a search and over 10 kilograms (22 pounds) heroin were seized, police said in a statement.
