GAZA CITY, Palestine

Two Palestinians were injured after Israel hit Hamas-linked targets in Gaza on Saturday, according to a Palestinian Health Ministry official.

The injuries are not life-threatening, ministry spokesperson Ashraf Al-Kudra told Anadolu Agency.

According to a Palestinian security source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, the Israeli army struck six targets affiliated with the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing.

Israeli Defense Forces said in a statement that four soldiers on patrol were wounded on Saturday when an explosive device went off near the southern Israel’s border with Gaza,

"Hamas is responsible for the improvised explosive device (IED) that wounded the soldiers," it said.

Israel waged a devastating 51-day military onslaught on the Gaza Strip in mid-2014 in which more than 2,300 Palestinians were killed and tens of thousands injured.

According to Israeli figures, 68 Israeli soldiers and five Israeli civilians were killed in the conflict, while 2,522 others, including 740 soldiers, were injured.
