Arrangements are being made for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to meet with Donald Trump following his inauguration as president of the U.S. next month, according to a local media report.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency cited an unnamed source “close to bilateral relations” as saying Tuesday that the meeting in the U.S. is being planned for around a week after Trump's inauguration Jan. 20.

Abe met with Trump in New York in mid-November following his election victory, and later said he was given the impression that he could trust the incoming U.S. leader.

Later this month, Abe is set to travel to Hawaii where he will hold his last bilateral summit with outgoing President Barack Obama.
