South Korea's ambassador to Turkey Choi Hong-Ghi praised the strong relations between the two countries.

"Our political relations, cooperation are continuing undisturbed at an exceptional level as we are strategic partners," he said, speaking to Anadolu Agency.

"The Republic of Korea and Turkey continue cooperation in the area of politics, economy, culture and defense," he added, in his first interview to the media.

Citing Prime Minister Binali Yildirim's visit to South Korea last year, Hong-Ghi said: "President Erdogan's potential visit to our country also came up during his [Yildirim's] visit. We are continuing diplomatic talks regarding Erdogan's visit to our country in the first half of this year. We believe that such visits would further enhance relations between the two countries."

Hong-Ghi stated that most of the South Korean companies in Turkey work in either the automotive or steel sectors and added: "As investment increases employment will also increase. Turkey's industry will positively be affected."

He also noted that Turkey is becoming an "attractive" holiday option for South Koreans.
