A mass grave of nine civilians killed by Daesh terrorists has been found in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Anadolu Agency the deceased have been identified as residents of Kot district, who were abducted by the militants over a year ago after clashes with the local uprising force.

In April last year, the U.S. Forces in Afghanistan (USFOR-A) dropped the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, referred to as the “mother of all bombs” on the complex network of tunnels and bases of the Daesh terrorists in Achin killing over 90 of them.

These southern districts are still marred by militancy and are one of the strongest bastions of the terrorists in the country.

This is not the first time Daesh terrorists have abducted and killed civilians. According to the local Tolo News, the terrorists abducted teachers and staffers of Ministry of Education from the same district last year and released videos of beheading and blowing-up the abductees.

Syed Rehman, governor of Kot district, said a total of 12 people were abducted by the militants from Kot over a year ago, and a mass grave with nine bodies has been found.

The grave was found after the security forces pushed the terrorists out of area following a recent military operation. This came as the International Criminal Court (ICC) is deliberating upon potential cases of war crimes in Afghanistan.
