Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the proliferation of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction were one of the most serious problems faced by humanity.
Delivering the opening remarks of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI) ministerial meeting in Istanbul, Davutoglu said that Turkey was loyal to the prevention of the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
We attach high importance to cooperating with countries in the prevention of the proliferation of nuclear weapons, Davutoglu stated.
All countries must fulfill their responsibilities to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and to use nuclear energy for the benefit of whole humanity, Davutoglu said.
During our meeting on Saturday, we will have an opportunity to go over what has been done to date and what could be done in the upcoming process, Davutoglu also said.
The Istanbul meeting is the fourth meeting of the initiative and is taking place under the auspices of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
