A suicide bomber has blown himself up inside the house of a local official in the city of Fallujah in Iraq’s western province of Anbar, according to a police official on Sunday.
"A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt managed on Sunday morning to break into the house of the governor of the district of Amriya Al-Samoud, Faisal al-Issawi and detonated himself close to him," the captain of Anbar police
Ahmed al-Dulaimi told Anadolu Agency.
Al-Issawi was injured in the attack and taken to hospital, he said, giving no details on his health condition.
While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the authorities typically blame such attacks on the Daesh terrorist group, which in mid-2014 captured large areas of northern and western Iraq.
