29 PKK terrorists were killed in several air operations in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey on Sunday, a military source and the local governorate said.

Thirteen PKK terrorists were killed in northern Iraq's Avasin-Basyan regions in an airstrike early Sunday while they were preparing to launch an armed attack, a military source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.

The strike also destroyed seven ammunition depots belonging to the terrorist organization PKK.

In addition, 13 PKK terrorists were killed in two different air operations in northern Iraq early Sunday, the Hakkari governorate said in a statement.

The written statement said that seven terrorists where killed in northern Iraq on the border line of the Ikiyaka mountains in southeastern Hakkari’s Yuksekova district.

Another air operation killed six terrorists in the western part of the Semdinli district of Hakkari province.

Meanwhile three PKK terrorists where killed in Turkey in an air operation in Hakkari's rural area in the Armutlu district of Kavakli village, according to another statement by the Hakkari governorate.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 people including women and children.
