Singer Taylor Swift's endorsement of Harris overwhelms US election information website
Hundreds of thousands rush to vote.gov after Swift supports Democratic candidate Kamala Harris
ISTANBUL
After American singer Taylor Swift announced her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the US presidential election to be held on Nov. 5, hundreds of thousands of people rushed to the US website “vote.gov”, which provides official election information to the public.
According to the General Services Administration (GSA), shortly after Swift announced her endorsement of Harris, the vote.gov website experienced significant traffic.
According to a spokesperson for the GSA, 337,826 people visited the voter information site after Swift announced her support on Tuesday.
Taylor Swift announced Tuesday on her Instagram account after the first live debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Harris that she would vote for Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
Pointing to the dangers of artificial intelligence, Swift said she decided to publicize her support for Harris after Trump claimed that Harris received her support by sharing an AI-generated photo of herself.
Swift's Instagram post in support of Harris has received more than 10 million likes so far.
