Some seven billion kilowatthours of electricity was produced by the Borcka Dam hydroelectric power plant in the last eight years, according to Turkish ministry of water affairs.
The total electricity produced in Borcka dam worth of 1,8 billion lira (around $700 million), a much higher figure than expected $90 million per year, the ministry said in a written statement.
The dam was inaugurated in April 2007 and is one of the five dams on Coruh River.
Turkey produced more than 242 thousand giga wattshours of electricity in 2012 with a continuing rise in production. Around 35 percent of Turkey's installed power is generated from hydro resources.
