Türkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has provided funding to the tune of 106.49 million liras to projects utilizing energy efficiency schemes since 2011.
Among the various programs the ministry has implemented to raise energy efficiency practices is the provision of financial support for projects deemed an 'Efficiency Enhancing Project (VAP).'
The goal of these initiatives is to reduce wasteful energy use and losses by recycling waste energy, installing insulation, rehabilitating older infrastructure and utilizing energy-efficient systems and equipment.
The ministry received 1,215 applications for these energy-efficient schemes between 2011 and 2023, out of which 213 businesses benefited from support in 482 projects.
A total of 59 businesses received 33.34 million liras in funding for energy efficiency last year, while 56 businesses benefited from 25.91 million liras in support the previous year.
The financial support provided between 2011 and 2023 has allowed savings of over 692 million liras annually, with the volume of energy savings totaling 111,788 tons of oil equivalent annually.
Furthermore, support is ongoing for 354 approved projects. Overall, the remaining projects will receive 199 million liras in support, which are set to contribute to 253 million liras of annual savings and an estimated 44,056 tons of oil equivalent in energy savings per year.
