Turkey's daily power consumption up 15.6 % on Aug. 31

- Turkey's electricity exports amount to 5,871 megawatt-hours while imports reach 1,191 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 15.6% on Monday compared to the previous day to reach 921,563 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Electricity production reached 926,243 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a 16% increase compared to the previous day.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 17.00 local time with 44,172 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 30,069 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time.

While electricity production from natural gas constituted 28.72% of total electricity consumption in Turkey on Monday, imported coal plants held a 22% share while hydro power plants comprised 20.62%.
