Turkey's electricity production decreased by 0.22% in June compared to the same month of last year, according to the latest data revealed by the country's energy watchdog.
Total production decreased to approximately 23.23 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), from 23.28 million kWh in June 2018, Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report for June.
Turkey produced its electricity from several resources -- 30.98% from hydropower plants, 16.08 % from hard coal, and 15.42% from lignite. Natural gas, wind, geothermal, biomass, fuel oil, solar, diesel and LNG generated the remaining share.
Consumption in the industrial sector saw the biggest share at 37.65%, followed by the commercial sector with 30.04%. Residential consumption came third with 24.43% while agricultural irrigation and street lighting accounted for the remainder.
Turkey's installed electricity capacity was up 2.89% in June on a yearly basis. Natural gas power plants comprised 31.05%, while 24.33% came from hydropower plants, and 11.93% from lignite power plants.
Hard coal, hydro, wind, geothermal, fuel oil, biomass and solar power also contributed to Turkey's installed capacity.
