- Turkish floating power plant will supply energy to Mozambique for 5 years

Turkey's floating power plant, the Karadeniz Powership Irem Sultan, will soon start electricity production in the southwest African nation of Mozambique, Karpowership, a member of the Istanbul-based Karadeniz Energy Group announced Friday.

The plant, which has 48 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, is important for the stability of the country's national grid as the country's energy demand grows daily.

The plant will supply the country's electricity needs for five years, the company said.

- New agreement with Sudan

The company also announced that it signed an electricity production and sales agreement with Sudan's electricity company STPGC.

The 150-megawatt powership will supply power to Sudan's national energy grid.

With these agreements, employment in both countries will increase and additional power to these African countries will be assured, the company said.

Karpowership is the sole owner, operator and builder of the first powership fleet in the world. Since 2010, 15 powerships have been completed with total installed capacity exceeding 2,800 MW.

An additional 5,000 MW of powerships are either under construction or in the pipeline.
