Türkiye's electricity production increased by around 8.93% in July compared to the same month last year, the latest data from the country's energy watchdog showed on Friday.
Total electricity production rose to around 29.62 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in July, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report for July.
The country produced electricity from several sources: 23.7% from imported coal, 22.7% from natural gas, 21.9% from hydroelectricity, 12.3% from lignite and 10.4% from wind.
Geothermal, biomass, hard coal, solar power, asphaltite, and fuel oil generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in July also increased to around 24.35 million MWh, marking a 12% rise compared to the same month last year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 1.89% to 95,500 megawatts in July, relative to July last year.
Natural gas power plants comprised 26.5% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.4% and 12%, respectively.
Lignite, imported coal, hydropower, biomass, geothermal, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, naphtha, LNG and diesel also contributed to the installed capacity.
