Türkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar praised the strong turnout at the İstanbul Energy Forum, highlighting his country’s pivotal role and the global community's trust in the nation.
“This was both important in terms of showing Türkiye's position as a central country and an indication of the trust in our country,” Bayraktar told Anadolu on the sidelines of the one-day forum organized by Anadolu under the auspices of the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
“Countries from many regions from Central Asia to Russia, from the Middle East to North Africa, from the Balkans to Central Europe were represented here at the ministerial level,” he added.
Highlighting the global interest in the forum, Bayraktar proposed renaming it the “International Istanbul Energy Forum“ to reflect its international scope accurately.
“We have already implemented many bilateral and multilateral projects together. We are entering a period of significant opportunities for the future,” he added.
Noting Türkiye’s aim to increase installed renewable capacity to 120 gigawatts by 2035, Bayraktar said: “Türkiye will strengthen Europe's energy security not only through natural gas but also by providing green energy.”
Prominent officials attending the Istanbul Energy Forum included Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Bulgaria's Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, Georgian First Vice Prime Minister and Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Levan Davitashvili, Hungary's Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto, Moldova's Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, Libya's Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek, Serbia's Energy, Mines Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic and Uzbekistan's Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov.
