The revenue of Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas increased by 6.20% to €15.4 billion in 2023, relative to €14.5 billion in 2022, the company announced late on Wednesday.
The company said it successfully managed to get 'back in black' and return to profitability last year and attributed the revenue increase both onshore and offshore to higher market pricing.
The company noted in its annual report that amid the growth in all major wind markets and activities, driven by high demand last year, the price of renewables on the global market grew, positively impacting the company's revenues.
The company's onshore order intake grew to 15.3 gigawatts in 2023 compared to 10.5 gigawatts in 2022, while its offshore order intake also increased from 0.6 gigawatts in 2022 to 3.1 gigawatts in 2023.
Henrik Andersen, Vestas' president and CEO, said: 'We continued to progress on our strategic priorities and strengthen our commercial and operational discipline, which, together with growth in our service business, helped us achieve a revenue of €15.4 billion. Our performance in 2023 was helped by the improving business environment, but continued geopolitical volatility as well as slow permitting and insufficient grid build-out across markets are expected to cause uncertainty in 2024.'
'Vestas’ performance improved throughout 2023, and we are pleased that Vestas returned to profitability and achieved the upper end of our guidance. Our order intake set a record of 18.4 gigawatts for the full year, which was driven by a record-setting fourth quarter that underlines our strong momentum at the end of the year,' he added.
