Turkey: Economic Confidence Index up in May

- Index had registered a decline from December 2014 to March 2015, but had increased by 3.6 percent in April

 

Economic confidence is recovering in Turkey, according to a report from the Turkish Statistical Institute released on Wednesday.

The index advanced to 82.16 from an April reading of 80.97, an increase of 1.5 percent, according to the report. 

The index had registered a decline from December 2014 to March 2015, but had increased by 3.6 percent in April.

There were increases in the real sector (manufacturing industry), services, retail trade and construction confidence indexes. 

But the Consumer Confidence Index decreased by 1.6 percent to 64.29 in May from 65.35 in April. 

The institute said that the Services Confidence Index increased by 0.1 percent to 100.69 from 100.60. The Retail Trade Confidence Index rose by 1.4 percent compared with the previous month to 103.26 in May from 101.84 in April.

The Construction Confidence Index increased to 83.40, up by 2.9 percent compared with the previous month

 The index has a maximum of +100 for total confidence and a minimum of -100.
